Words to the Songs I’ve Written – 2

Gideon’s Song by John Wheeler Tucker

  1. Like Gideon, we find ourselves hiding, From the people whose power we despise; There we are, down in some winepress, And the Lord Jesus hears our cries.

2. We feel helpless, lonely, and flustered, As if God has abandoned us there; We have lost our joyful spirit, And are caught in turmoil and despair.

Bridge #1 But God has not forgotten, His promise to have and to hold; He calls to us from the heavens: “Come out! Be strong! Be bold!”

Chorus: Men: “I am a mighty man of valor!” Women: “I am a woman of honor and worth!” Children: “I am a child of victorious living!” Everyone: “I go in the strength of my Lord! We go in the strength of our Lord!”

3. Battles aren’t won by being fearful; By faith, we go forth in Christ’s name; He is calling us out to conquer, Through the love that He brought when He came!

4. So, like Gideon, let’s move ahead bravely, And act upon God’s words; In trusting our Lord for victory, There is coming a day of great rewards!

Bridge #2 For God has not forgotten, His promise to have and to hold; He calls to us from the heavens: “Come out! Be Strong! Be bold!”
