Here’s a poem I’ve written (without music) regarding Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection.
The Loneliest Loneliness and Surprising Joy!
That day was the worst, That human history allowed; The day God turned His back, Keeping what He had vowed.
God the Father, turned His face, Away from Christ, His Son; And Jesus experienced a sorrow, Too deep for anyone!
It was the loneliest loneliness, Unimaginable to any man! Yes! The Father turned away from His Son, To fulfill a greater plan.
The heaviness of such an act, Cannot be comprehended; Jesus’ blood buried our sins, And death was apprehended!
Three days after His tomb was sealed, Life exploded inside that grave! Christ walked out alive, proclaiming: “Go! There’s a world to save!”
Surprising Joy, now floods our hearts, With a message so radically pure! Casting aside our fear of others, We offer them, God’s lasting cure!
Reaching, teaching, baptizing, In the Father, the Spirit, and Son; We share our faith in Jesus, Until we’ve reached everyone!
